San Diego Pollinator Alliance
The RCD is a founding member of the San Diego Pollinator Alliance (SDPA), a group of organizations and agencies working together to protect San Diego County's native pollinators. Together, we're working to increase awareness about threats to pollinators and science-backed pollinator-friendly practices throughout San Diego County through outreach, education, and on-the-ground programs. We work to increase native pollinator habitat within agicultural lands, residences, community spaces, and other public and private lands through restoration, research, and education.
- Conduct education and outreach at events about San Diego native pollinators, pollinator-friendly practices, and SDPA work to enhance pollinator health.
- Develop demonstration native pollinator habitat in partnership with other agencies, organizations, businesses, and residents.
- Support land managers and agricultural producers to restore or incorporate native pollinator habitat and best practices for pollinator health.
- Uplift scientific research to expand understanding of the issues affecting native pollinators and inform conservation approaches in the region.
- Organize and host an annual gathering in September.

The SoCal Pollinator Network was formed in Fall of 2021, when a masters student working with various pollinator organizations throughout Southern California recognized the need for more communication in our region. Since our inception, we have grown to include over 20 partners agencies in our group!

We meet bi-monthly and discuss partner project updates and needs for support with pollinator work throughout Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties.
The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation has outlined changes that city's and college campuses can make in order to receive the esteemed title of a Bee City of Bee Campus. With the leadership of City Council President Joe LaCava, UCSD's Dr. James Nieh, and our fellow partners on the Bee City Committee, the City of San Diego has agree to make those commitments to support biodiversity, bees and other pollinators. Read the full press release here!

Below are the Bee City Committments. If you are interested in making these committments for your city or college campus, you can learn more here.
